We had better make clear the nutritions of apple.

The average apple contains about 20g carbohydrates, 0.2g protein, 110mg potassium, 0.11mg calcium, 11mg phosphorus and some microelements.  Apples are rich in antioxidants, dietary fiber and flavanoids, all of which are important to protect the patients’ overall health.

So, IgA Nephropathy patients can eat apples moderately.

Now we state from the following aspects why apples are good for IgA Nephropathy patients.

What Are The Symptoms Of Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)?

FSGS produces scars within the kidneys, causing them to lose the ability to work. The symptoms are variable from case to case. Many patients have no symptoms. If you are a patient of FSGS, do you want to know the answer? Don’t worry, the following may help you greatly.

The main symptoms of FSGS generally include the following:

1. Foamy urine (from excess protein in the urine)

Under normal cases, there has no or just a little protein in the urine, which is because the filtration function of glomeruli can prevent the macromolecular proteins and proteins with negative charge getting through the filtration membrane. This filtration membrane of glomeruli just likes a griddle. For FSGS patients, the glomeruli has been damaged, the filtration function declines. Proteins that can not get through the filtration membrane previously can drip through now. however, if there is something wrong with kidney tubules or too much proteins exceed the reabsorption ability of kidney tubules, the protein will be excreted out of body with urine.

2. Edema

Because of loss of much proteins, people will have hypoalbuminemia. Swelling is associated with plasma osmotic pressure and the decreased kidney function. Swelling in parts of the body, most noticeable around the eyes, hands and feet.  According to statistics, about two-thirds of patients have serious swelling.

3. Blood urine

Blood urine appears when extra red blood cells leak into the urine from kidney. In normal case, wastes and nutritions are separated by blood flowing through kidney. However, for FSGS patients, due to damaged glomerular filtration membrane, their kidneys can not work normally, as a result, blood urine occurs when a lot of red blood cells appear in urine. According to statistics, nearly 50% patients show hematuresis and in general, microscopic hematuresis is more common.

4. Poor appetite

With the kidney function becoming lower and lower, more and more waste and toxins accumulate in the body, which will affect all kinds of systems of body. If the digestive absorption system is affected, people may have poor appetite.

The decreased kidney function is failed to produce enough EPO, and the toxins also can shorten the survival of red blood cells. So people may suffer from anemia, which can cause people feel fatigue and weak and do not feel liking eating anything.

5. Dizziness

This symptom occurs mainly due to the increased blood pressure, which can be caused by various reasons, including FSGS directly. If continuous rise of blood pressure fails to control properly, kidney failure occurs easily.

In all, symptoms of FSGS are usually attributed to urinary tract infections, but repeated infections are signs of FSGS and reflux nephropathy. Since FSGS is a genetic condition, there is a greater possibility of developing FSGS if parents have a history of reflux nephropathy.

Finally, the above are some typical symptoms of FSGS. Of course, if you have doubt that whether you are suffering from FSGS with a certain symptom, please contact us as soon as possible, we will reply you within 24 hours.

Diet Suggestion For IgA Nephropathy

IgA nephropathy is an auto-immune kidney disease and it has various bad influences on our body’s immune system and immune functions. IgA Nephropathy is prone to occur in young people. However it usually lasts until you become an elderly patient. While diet can not cure IgA nephropathy, it plays a crucial role in treating the disease. The following is the general guidance for proper diet plan for IgA nephropathy patients, we hope a part of passage can help you greatly.

1. Limitation of protein ingestion
As we all know that eating excess protein gained from our daily diet may increase the production of nitrogenous wastes and increase the burden to our kidneys. Once there is less urine of IgA nephropathy patients, a series of toxicity symptoms will occur. So food with rich protein, like meat, eggs and bean products, should be avoided. Protein supply can be increased gradually when illness turns better.

2.Limitation of salt and water
IgA nephropathy patients who have serious high blood pressure, edema, oliguria should take a diet without salt and the water intake should be limited in a range of 800ml to 1200 ml every day. Tiny amount of salt can be taken if edema disappears, high blood pressure decreases and urine increases, but should be limited within 2g-3g per day.

3. Limit The Potassium Intake
Among the diet plan for IgA nephropathy patients, limit the potassium intake strictly also plays an important role in treating IgA nephropathy. Foods with high potassium include: bananas, citrus, potatoes, tomatoes, squash, tea, soy sauce, monosodium and so on

4. Limit The Phosphorus Intake
As the kidneys fail to work to filter phosphorus from body, high levels of phosphorus in body can result in tons of complications like skin itching, bone problems etc. The diet is necessary to limit the phosphorus intake. Milk, yogurt, peas, nuts and beans contain phosphorus and must be avoided.

What Are The Preventions Of Nephrotic Syndrome?

Avoiding situations or controlling the other diseases that can contribute to kidney disease can sometimes prevent nephrotic syndrome. You can help prevent kidney damage by:

One. Keeping strict control over your blood glucose level if you have diabetes.

Two. Avoid too much exposure to sunlight. Nephrotic Syndrome patients have lowered immunity and the harmful rays in the sunlight will easily cause scytitis and worsen the illness condition.

Three. Maintaining healthy levels of fats (lipids), such as cholesterol and triglycerides.

Four. Moderate exercises. Some mild exercises such as walking, tai chi are conducive for the recovery.

Five. Practice good hygiene. Frequent washing of clothes and pay attention to maintain the skin clean.

Six. Have good and adequate rest. Poor quality sleep will further lower the immunity, therefore patients should have good rest. Avoid catching cold while sleeping.

Seven. Not smoking or using other tobacco products.
